A large garry oak tree, which had been growing right next to the heritage serpentine stone wall on the west side of the Lieutenant Governor’s property, has blown down.
No damage was done to the old Lotbiniere wall, miraculously.
I am not sure when the tall tree fell, but it must have been during recent winds in the last week.
I first noticed it down about three nights ago, on one of my occasional evening walks down that enchanted pedestrian-friendly laneway.
We have three garry oaks on our property, and one looms precipitously over our house on the southeast side, but I am reluctant to cut them, and besides, I believe that one needs to endure a truck load of red tape from City Hall to cut designated heritage tree species, which is as it should be, I suppose.
